The Great Haggis Hunt of 2004/2005
You, too, can join the annual hunt for the haggis — no, not the traditional Scottish dish composed of meat, oatmeal
, and sheep's stomach, but the rare, platypus-like animal the Scots like to hunt this time of year. While the natural haggis habitat is Scotland, natch, small colonies of hardy haggii have made it to the New World, and a few of the animals have even been spotted in Manhattan. This website here delves deep into the mystery that is the haggis. Just as much fun are the ten webcam feeds you'll find there. Nine of the cameras are in the U.K., but one is stationed in New York's Times Square in recognition of the aforementioned haggis diaspora. Click on one of the live pictures, and if you spot a haggis, tell the makers of the site. There are nice prizes to be won, including a stay at a luxury hotel. After you enter — and a heartfelt best of luck to you! — you may want to relax here.
