A handwritten note arrived this week, signed "a Senior Reader." Attached to the note were two pieces clipped from last weekend's paper. The first was a quote from Rosie O'Donnell, who, commenting about Naomi Campbell, said, "I think she needs a big, 200-pound lesbian to kick her ass." The second was the main headline on the Arts and Entertainment front: "Spring loaded: Alphabet city/26 ways to have a kick-ass time around town this season." "I've been a subscriber for over forty years and found the 'ass' word being used twice this weekend and find it inappropriate for a family newspaper," the reader wrote.
