In Gainesville, Fla.,
Rosa B. Williams, chairwoman of the city's Black on Black Crime Taskforce, said the trend of young men wearing pants well below the waist is a "disgrace" and sets a bad example. "Nowadays they're so low, they have to hold them up just to walk," Williams said. "I think its time for the City Commission or someone to take a stand." After all, Williams said, "If (police) see someone naked, they're going to stop them."
Despite the black-on-black crime wave that the droopy trousers are sure to exacerbate, the City Commission declined to adopt Ms. Williams' pants-fighting proposal.
UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal reminds us that droopy pants make for less-than-ideal getaway garb.

Droopy pants make it harder for the wearers to elude police since they can't run all that well while holding up their trousers.
