"The escalating [obesity] problem, particularly in children, could make today's generation the first to die before its parents."
That, apparently, is the conclusion shared with 2,500 obesity experts congregating in Sydney (though the lousy article doesn't say who, exactly, is responsible for the patently preposterous statement).
Also this, from the same story:
Campbelltown mother-of-three Kerry Scerri is conscious of protecting her children from becoming obese or overweight. "I put on extra weight and I know what it's like to feel uncomfortable with yourself, feel unhappy and wonder what people are saying about you," said Mrs Scerri, who has been a life member of Jenny Craig for 15 years. "I don't want to put my kids through that."
Clearly, if Ms. Scerri is uncomfortable and unhappy with the overly large amounts of food she voluntarily ingests, and with the resulting weight gain, somebody must be responsible. Somebody other than her, I mean. Somebody should be required to help her. Who? Why, the federal government of course — who else?
The Dietitians Association of Australia has called on the Federal Government to: recognise obesity as a chronic disease under Medicare; [and] provide a significant financial commitment to help struggling Australian families get the skills and support they need to feed their families properly.
It's telling that fat twats blameless victims like Ms. Scerri worry what people may be saying about their weight, but that they don't think twice about what people are saying about their propensity to dig into taxpayers' pockets in order to ameliorate the effects of their gluttony. Also note that, in this line of thinking, it's no longer parents' responsibility to feed kids properly and to encourage them to exercise; that task is now delegated to federal bureaucrats.
Meanwhile, city officials in Sydney are dealing decisively with a more pressing concern: spitting, which can now be punished with a fine of 1,100 dollars.

I want a t-shirt that says on the front
"Fat people make me spew like a bulemic"
