Poor, Misunderstood Leatherface
The National Alliance on Mental Illness, or NAMI, is unhappy with pop-culture depictions of psychopaths and serial killers. So the group's got a lot of complaining to do.
Targets of [NAMI] complaints have ranged from Nestle USA (for Tangy Taffy flavors such as "Psycho Sam") to the Vermont Teddy Bear Co. (makers of a straitjacketed "Crazy for You" cub for Valentine's Day).
At present, NAMI's in a snit because some people dress up like bloodthirsty mental patients for Halloween.
After Fright Night, the organization will resume trying to get a Cincinnati-area amusement park, Paramount's Kings Island, to close down its "PsychoPath" — an outdoor trail of terror.
It sure is comforting to know that in America, even John Wayne Gacy and Jeffrey Dahmer have their very own advocacy group.
