Today is the second anniversary of Theo van Gogh's murder by a Muslim extremist. Here's a picture of a mural that Dutch artist Donovan Spaanstra spontaneously painted in the immediate wake of Theo's death. The location is the Warmoesstraat, right around the corner from where I used to live. I like the painting, and I'm trying my best to forget that, even before Spaanstra was finished, Dutch-Moroccan supporters of Theo's killer, chanting allegiance to Hamas, came to spit on it. Pieter Dorsman at Peaktalk has more — not about that incident, but about Theo's life and legacy.
