Bad Santa! Santa too fat!
In the latest and perhaps most bizarre move of the global struggle against obesity, English malls are now encouraging their Santas to lose weight. The Daily Mail is reporting that the Bluewater shopping center in Kent has even set up a "Santa Boot Camp" in order to get Jolly Ol' Saint Nick "in shape and setting a good example to children who idolise him."
For regular readers: yes, that's the same shopping center — Europe's largest — that pioneered the ban on hoodies and baseball caps and other dastardly head coverings a couple of years ago.
As for the battle over Santa's belly, Emil Steiner of the Washington Post has the only right response: bemusement and derision, with a nice bit of parody thrown in for good measure.
