I like this question, although to resolve the obvious dichotomy / hypocrisy, the morally disgusted, the perpetually panicked and the sexually repressed could very well conclude that porn should be against the law just like prostitution.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Prostitution Is Illegal. Porn Is Fine. Why?:

IANAL, but in California, the courts' reasoning goes something like this: Prostitution is defined as paying for sexual enjoyment. Porn stars are paid for sex, but it's for the purpose of making a movie, not for the enjoyment of the people (producers) who are paying them. Therefore, paying porn stars is not prostitution.

So legally do you have to prove you took no sexual enjoyment from the 'job'. Probably a bit hard for the guy who proved his enjoyment in the money shot I would have assumed ? Or is it purely the pleasure of the person who pays (producer)?
By that rationale, if someone pays for a prostitute FOR me, then he's not getting any pleasure, and I can have a good legal Hooker experience ? Perhaps if i film it and stick it on the net then its a movie ?
Such prudish stupidity. Make it legal, keep the women safe, and TAX them. Sounds perfectly sensible especially to the financial ears of politicians no ?

The porn industry invests in politicians. The prostitution industry does not.
Why is this hard to understand?

Sex is gay get over it! People have been having sex forever with pretty much everything. The only importance is the orgasm...people don't need each other... look it up on the wall in the local tavern. I can't even believe these people are even bothering with money..unless they're doing this against the innocent...I feel guilty that this is happening and the money isn't covering it up it's making this crap sound worse than rape itself.

Actually, the prostitution industry heavily gives contributions to our politicians, just not in money. Heard about the Washington, D.C. madam?
