[welcome, Boingers!]
These books, which I found on Amazon, are still for sale. A collage like this (but better) ought to be a museum piece somewhere. Or a funny poster. Or a magazine cover. Or all of the above.
This site operates under a Creative Commons license, but I'm waiving the "no commercial use" and the "no derivative works" for this post — so if you're an artist or a designer or an art director, and you feel inspired, have at it. Just please shoot me a copy of whatever you create. Thanks.

Oof.

This is a wonderful collection of artefacts.
The primary characteristic of a bubble: people coming up with reasons why, this one, isn’t a bubble.
We wouldn't be were we are today without these guys.

here is what passes for optimism over at cnbc this morning...someone needs to send that whole crowd to another planet:
"Investors have been searching for that vital capitulation point where complete despair sets in and stocks form a true bottom. A higher-than-expected jobless rate could set the stage for that and spark a long-overdue rally in what most agree is a highly oversold market."

I sort of understand the Asha Tyson book. How she retired at 26? By selling books to fools who wondered how she retired at 26.

To be fair, the real estate boom didn't bust. Bust is far to mild a word. It imploded into a fiery wreck of anger, fear, and doubt. And the book is not called "Why The Real Estate BOOM Won't Implode Into A Fiery Wreck Of Anger, Fear, and Doubt."

Sorry, but as other people on Boing Boing have mentioned before, Toni Turner's Beginner's Guide to Daytrading is a solid introduction to daytrading covering every aspect from technical analysis, money management to psychology. At $11 it is easily the best value trading book; even if you plan to keep your stocks a little longer...
Daytrading can be extremely profitable in volatile markets and daytraders don't care if the markets go up or down.
This book just doesn't fit in with the other examples.

nearly fell off my seat laughing when I saw this review at Amazon:
you missed: The Bush Boom
Through the Looking Glass, October 24, 2003
By Alice (Wonderland)
53 of 67 people found the following review helpful:
Finally! A book that proves the existence of an alternate universe.
Obviously, a rip in the space/time continuum between this universe and the other universe where Bush is presiding over a ‘boom economy’ opened up and this book fell through. Can there be ANY other explanation?
Best of all, its only 1 cent at Amazon.
